Kyler England is a driven artist with a unique approach to her blend of pop and electronic music with a lot of tuneful atmospherics. Her most recent album release, “Electric Hum,” is a diverse, forward-thinking and eclectic project that allows Kyler to stretch out the boundaries of her imaginative songwriting and strong melodies.
This release features 10 original tracks, including opening number “Battle Cry.” The song immediately reveal Kyler’s brooding, yet uplifting style, echoing the work of artists as diverse as Elle Goulding, Lorde or Halsey.
The second track, “Take These Things To Heart” is one of the most introspective on this release, with cinematic melodies and heartfelt lyrics that share a vivid and emotional story with listeners. As the title might suggest, “We Rise Like Smoke” is a track with a powerful and imaginative twist, which really creates an exquisite contrast with the melancholic feel of the previous number. This song in particular makes one think of artists such as Imogen Heap or Daughter, only to mention a few.
“Eye Of Your Storm” is one of the most intriguing and direct songs on this release. One has to appreciate the soothing bass/synth sounds, as well as the intimacy of the lyrics in this particular song. The following track, “When The World Stops Spinning,” as well as ‘Alchemy” actually make up the perfect center for this album, because the songs create a bridge between the record’s most quiet moments and its most energetic ones, carving a unique sound and a stunning compromise with a powerful feel.
In terms of production value, The sonic attributes of this album has been beautifully produced. The low end is fast and present, the mid-range is vibrant and warm, while the top end is silky and smooth, adding definition and strength to these tracks. If you are a fan of great melodies, meaningful lyrics and emotional, yet understated singing, you will certainly enjoy every song on this well-conceived album. Kyler put a lot of effort into this project, and evidently poured her heart into every single song on this release. Bravo!
